“Good at drawing.” That was me. “Get Richard to do it, he’s good at drawing.” “Is anyone here good at drawing?” Three little words that, to a very small and barely comment-on-able extent, defined me a little bit at school.
I was of course. Irritatingly so, I guess as I was forever being approached by school masters and asked to design programmes and posters for school productions, charity Christmas cards and whatnot. “Drawing” was always my skill and it was set to make my fortune as and when I “growed up.”

T’was not to be howe’er, for reasons that still perplex.

Here’s what my alter ego (which reminds me of a Kathy Lette novel “Altar Ego” – see what she did then? And every fucking time she opens her mouth? Sorry) Dr Cod Pyschology says on the subject [don half-moon specs and tweedy accent]:

“Apart from the act of sexual intercourse which records show Richard finishes too rapidly, Richard has a problem finishing anything of value. No sooner does he embark on one project than he discards it, drags it to his recycle bin and begins in earnest on another. He is fond of blaming this on his recently diagnosed bi-polarity – a condition that can see it’s sufferers embark on ill-thought out and hasty grand-projects involving time, effort and feelings of pending success. However a most acute diagnosis would see evidence that Richard really has acquired no ability to cope in the outside world with being – so to speak – “second best” or “a moderate success.” The first time Richard experienced the sensation of being knocked from the top spot – when he attended University in 1991 to study Graphic Design and found himself surrounded by other teens who had been THEIR college’s brightest stars, Richard promptly dropped his course like a hot turd and embarked on becoming a comedy play-write over night. Any attempt Richard makes to tell you otherwise should be taken with a pinch of salt the size of Utah.”

Thanks for that Doc. Anyway fact is, I kept my hand in a little bit doing artwork for other people (posters, caricatures, greetings cards, portraits etc) and I am getting these up on the site as and when I can.
